The “Pedestal Series” responded to two requirements: on the one hand, to eliminate the “chaos of legs” of chairs and tables within the inhabited space, thus returning to a formal order; on the other, to restore to the product a formal and constructive unity, to honor the principles of “organic design”: one form, one piece, one material (plastic). Plastic could not support too heavy weights, so it was necessary to make the pedestal in cast aluminum. This kept in perspective the moment when production techniques would reach a level that would allow returning to the primary idea and giving the product that constructive unity, more than formal, fundamental in his eyes. To fully realize the principle “one piece, one material”. Base in cast aluminum. Top with edge in fluid laminate.
